The concept of LAVA, LIVING ABILITY VIVERE ABILITA. originated from "Share Your Heart” activities. The scope is to create activities in public for persons with disability. The activity consists of painting in public together. For this I get sponsors to cover the costs of just that particular activity.

Having held several activities in Malta I thought of organizing some sort of activity that would enable Maltese disabled persons to meet and interact with foreign disabled persons. I knew that this would need a lot of planning and contacts with the right people. As luck would have it, my father won a day return Virtu Ferries ticket to Sicily and decided to donate it to me. A link from the University got me in touch with a president of an association in Sicily.

I traveled to Sicily at the end of September 2003 to meet the President of CE..S.A.R.D., “Centro Studi Assistenza ricupero disabili” but I set up various other meetings to fill the day. At 10.00am my first meeting at the “Comune di Catania” was with Dr. Camerini, a director in charge of disabled. During the meeting Dr. Camerini informed me that in two weeks time, there was going to be a large gathering of disabled persons and their associations. He invited me to conduct a “Share Your Heart” activity during this gathering. The event was going to be held at the PalaSport in Catania. I accepted his invitation and told him I would not miss this opportunity, and hoped to get sponsors to be able to attend.
