Biography of Denis Calleja

Denis Calleja was born in Tarxien on the 2 nd July 1954. His present post is that of IT officer with the University of Malta. His hobbies are music, fishing, art and of course computer work. He has been composing music and writing poems for many years. He also producing a CD in aid of Dar il-Kaptan. This music is made electronically and is very relaxing.

Denis Calleja is in fact a self-taught artist and he uses mainly pens, pastels and glitter in his drawings. He draws in a spontaneous way and never knows how his designs will end up. In his works one could see different interpretations of familiar objects, animals and plants but most of his drawings are of an abstract nature. The artist works according to his feelings and experiments with many designs and with different mediums. During these last two years, Denis received many favourable comments from the general public and critics about his artwork. This gives him great satisfaction and encouragement

This site includes other drawings, which are found in private collections in Malta and abroad. In his recent studies one could see imaginative drawings of prehistoric animals with an oriental texture made with vibrant colours. The artist feels that he has a kind of positive energy and drive to make him work continuously and express his inner being in many versatile designs.
